Salafi is not a particular sect or group, but salafi is attributed to the salaf, namely the Prophet sallallaahu 'alaihi wa sallam,shahabat, and the best generations after that, namely tabi'in and tabi'ut tabi'in.

Do you know Imam Bukhari?

His real name is Muhammad

Muhammad bin Ismail

"Bukhari" is an attribution to the City of Bukhara

So it is wrong to say "Muhammad bin Ismail from a sect or group Bukhari"
